Church is Accessible

Joy Lutheran is accessible. We have a deep debt of gratitude for Rick and Paula Curry, Donnie Soward and Logan Wilmoth for getting things put up in the church as a precaution. There is cleanup to be done, and getting things back for normal operations. Anyone who may be available on Tuesday, September 5, about midmorning, we invite to come to the church and lend a hand as we begin to get things back into place. In addition we are recruiting volunteer teams to help with Joy disciples who may need assistance on their own property. We give thanks to God that he is spared us the most devastating impacts of hurricane Harvey, even as we continue to pray for those who have lost everything, and seek to offer our assistance in whatever ways we can.

NALC Disaster Recovery Plan

The NALC disaster recovery plan is in place for our area. We are currently assessing the needs of disciples of joy.

Paula and Logan are currently compiling a list of those with needs.

If there are those who wish to participate with a disaster recovery team, you would not be needed until at least next week or perhaps the week after. If you are willing to help, call or email Larry Mikeska. His contact information:

cell: (281) 794-9121

email: lmikeska@swbell.net

Larry is compiling the list of potential volunteers. Thank you.

NALC Disaster Relief

The national NALC disaster recovery coordinator is on site in Rosenberg. Initial recovery efforts and teams are being dispatched to Corpus, Portland, Port Aransas, Rockport and Victoria areas. Once the Brazos River has receded, and an assessment can be made in our area, recovery teams will be available to our disciples who need assistance. If your home and/or property had been impacted by flooding, please document and let us know so that we can deploy the teams in the best way possible. We begin with NALC folks and then spread out from there. If you desire to make contributions to assist in the relief effort, the best contributions are cash. Make checks payable to Joy Lutheran Church, with NALC disaster relief in the memo line. If you desire to participate with one of the recovery teams, once we are past the flooding stage, we will have a sign-up sheet at the church.

May our gracious Lord continue to guard, protect, and provide us with patience and endurance.

Pr. Tim
